How to make a jigsaw puzzle from your photo

  1. 1

    Upload a photo

Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP image above, or choose one from your phone or computer.

  2. 2

    Choose pieces and a cut

Pick how many pieces you want, from 4 to 4,000, and a cut style such as Classic, ZigZag or a shaped cut.

  3. 3

    Play or share

Solve it right away, send a link so friends can solve the same puzzle, or open a table and solve it together.

A real jigsaw, not just a picture cut into squares

Your photo is cut into proper interlocking pieces that snap together when they meet. Choose a small puzzle for a quick break or a child, or a big one for an evening project. Classic and ZigZag cuts go all the way up to 4,000 pieces, and shaped cuts such as Cat or Candy make a fun change.

Your progress is saved as you play, so you can close the tab and carry on later. Turn on piece rotation for an extra challenge, sort out the edge pieces first, and change the background to suit your picture.

Your photo, in plain words

  • Playing alone: your photo is not uploaded. It opens in your browser and is saved there with your progress, so you can resume.
  • If you are signed in, your saved progress, including the picture, is also kept in your account so you can resume on another device. Only you can see it.
  • Sharing a link or opening a table for friends: we upload a copy so the others can load it. It is resized to at most 2,200 pixels and saved as WebP, which removes location and camera data.
  • That copy is stored at a random address that is not listed anywhere. It never appears in our gallery or search. Anyone who has the link can open it.
  • Shared copies have no expiry date and are not linked to your account, so deleting your account does not remove them. To have one removed, email support@gopuzzlego.com with the puzzle link.
  • Only upload photos you took yourself or have the right to use.

For teachers and young children

GoPuzzleGo for schools is a separate, child-safe area for preschool and kindergarten: no account, no ads, no timer and large pieces, with a board mode for classroom smartboards. Children can also puzzle a picture from the device, and that picture is never uploaded.

Solve it together

Open a table from your puzzle and send the link: up to 8 people can solve the same picture at once, each on their own device, and everyone sees the pieces move in real time. Or join someone else's game at open tables.

Want a puzzle you can print?

Use the free jigsaw puzzle generator to put cut lines over your photo and download a print-ready PNG or PDF, or an SVG cut file for a laser cutter or Cricut.

Frequently asked questions

Is the jigsaw puzzle maker free?

Yes. Making a puzzle from your own photo is free, with every piece count and cut style. Guests can start 5 puzzles a day, a free account raises that to 15, and Premium removes the daily limit.

Do I need an account?

No. You can upload a photo, play it and share it without signing up. An account only adds more puzzles per day and lets you resume your puzzles on another device.

How many pieces can my puzzle have?

From 4 pieces for small children up to 4,000 pieces for a long project. The largest sizes are available in the Classic and ZigZag cuts; other cut styles offer smaller ranges.

Who can see my photo, and how long is it kept?

To play alone, your photo is not uploaded: it stays in your browser. Only when you share a link or open a table for friends do we upload a resized copy, at a random address that is not listed anywhere, so anyone with the link can open it. These copies have no expiry date and are not tied to your account. To have one removed, email support@gopuzzlego.com with the link.

Can I share my puzzle with a link?

Yes. Press Share while you play and you get a short link. Whoever opens it gets the same picture, the same cut and the same number of pieces, with no account needed.

Can we solve my puzzle together?

Yes. Open a table from your puzzle and invite friends with the link. Up to 8 people can solve the same puzzle together in real time.

Can I print my puzzle instead?

Yes. The free jigsaw puzzle generator puts cut lines over your photo and downloads a print-ready PNG or PDF, or an SVG cut file for a laser cutter or Cricut. That photo never leaves your device.

Does it work on phones, tablets and smartboards?

Yes. It runs in the browser on computers, tablets and phones, with touch controls, and there is nothing to install. For classroom smartboards, GoPuzzleGo for schools has a big-button board mode.

Can children under 13 use it?

For young children, use GoPuzzleGo for schools instead. It needs no account, shows no ads, and a picture chosen from the device is puzzled right there without being uploaded.
